As part of Velg Training’s vision to continue to educate, inspire and empower Australia's VET community, we have included in our Professional Development calendar for 2018, newly inspired Focus Weeks! A dedicated week of learning opportunities (one webinar per day) specifically designed to increase knowledge and skills of VET practitioners in targeted topics.

Our second Focus Week is dedicated to RTO Compliance. Five content rich webinars, delivered by five compliance experts, will explore compliance with a commercial lens.

The brand new content of our next Focus Week has been informed by the following inputs:

  • The input of our VET Gurus from across the country and the issues they have identified as currently topical;
  • Some of the most common non-compliance areas that have been identified in the sector (both as a result of internal auditing and external auditing); and
  • Feedback from our members! Collation of our feedback received in the last year identified compliance focussed PD is a high priority for our members.

 Each webinar will pay particular attention to how compliance in that subject is developed and administered, ensuring a focal point on continually improving RTO practices.

Third-party arrangements
Presenter: Joe Newbery
Register now
This webinar focuses on Clause 2.3, 2.4, 4.1, 5.2 and 8.2 of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations as they relate to the delivery of services through a third-party arrangement. Third-party arrangements are absolutely allowable under the RTO Standards, but are they worth it and what are the risks involved? During this webinar, Joe will explore these questions and help participants to understand what a third-party arrangement is and isn’t. We will talk about how to set these arrangements up properly to realise the commercial benefits and to protect your compliance. The session will focus on the mandatory inclusions within a third-party agreement and the monitoring arrangements necessary to ensure a healthy partnership.

The 'Rolling' Five-Year Validation Plan, and the Benefits it Achieved
Presenter: John Price
Register now
As of the 1st of April 2015 the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 required effective planning and implementation of a five-year systematic validation of assessment to be undertaken. The standards provided details of how this was to be developed and required the RTO to determine: when assessment validation will occur; which training products will be the focus of the validation; who will conduct the validation; and how the outcomes will be documented and acted upon. This webinar will discuss the benefits that RTOs gained from the first three-years of the validation process; the challenges they faced in implementation; the assessment opportunities discovered; and how these have influenced the quality of assessment development and subsequent validation activities.

Student Information, Support and Complaints & Appeals
Presenter: Angela McGregor
Register now
This webinar will cover the obligations of an RTO with regards to student enrolment and support, including complaints and appeals. It will look at what the Standards for RTOs 2015 say, how these impact on an RTO’s enrolment practices and clarify the meaning behind what an RTO’s actual obligations to its students are. Whilst covering the accuracy of information RTOs provide to its students prior to enrolment, the session will also look at how RTOs can best meet the additional support needs of its students and the evidence requirements in the event of complaints and appeals.
