This interactive session was designed to equip VET practitioners with the knowledge and practical strategies needed to create trauma-informed learning environments.

Understanding the impact of trauma on learning was essential for supporting students who may have experienced adverse life events, and this session provided an overview of trauma-informed approaches that could be integrated into vocational education settings within the framework of the Outcome Standards.

Practical strengths-based strategies to learning, assessment and creating classroom environments where all learners felt safe and supported were shared.

What to expect

Once you're enrolled, you have 90 days to complete your MLB Recording via our LMS platform - Thinkific.  

You will be sent a confirmation link via email (just like any other Velg Training event) and this link will connect you to the Thinkific platform. You simply need to input your username and create a password.

Once logged into Thinkific, your MLB recording will be visible on the dashboard

<p style="">Natalie Oostergo (she/her/hers) is the Associate Director of Student Success at the University of Southern Queensland where she leads the implementation of strategies to support the diverse learning needs of domestic and international students. </p><p style="">Natalie is an innovative and strategic thinker with over twenty years of experience in tertiary and vocational education. Her career highlights include presenting at various conferences, receiving an Australian Award for University Teaching, becoming an IEAA Associate Fellow, and making lasting connections with students. </p><p style="">Natalie lives and works on Jagera and Turrbal Country in Meanjin Brisbane and Giabal and Jarowair Country in Toowoomba.</p>
