NVPDW: Great Learning Ideas for Fostering Student Engagement

22 October 2018
ONLINE

This webinar is one of ten available during National VET PD Week - a joint venture between Velg Training and Australian Council for Private Education and Training.

Hosted by ACPET, clicking 'Register Now!' below will take you to ACPET's website where you can register to attend this session.

About this webinar

Getting and keeping students engaged in learning can be one of the toughest challenges for educators. Curiosity is an innate trait, yet research suggests that as we get older, it diminishes, and in some cases, is actually squelched by the very system designed to teach us. Given the renewed focus on supporting students in Vocational Education, it seems logical that as educators, we refresh ourselves on one of the basic tenets for learning.

Whilst the main audience of this session will be educators from the VET sector, content themes are readily applicable to teachers also.

Key topics covered within webinar

  • Understand the impact of curiosity on learning
  • Relate the underpinning theory of curiosity and learning
  • Acknowledge the vital importance of curiosity in skilling lifelong learners
  • Identify and generate simple strategies to foster student engagement and progression
