Vocational Competence Equivalency Mapping with Industry Expert Record

Anyone delivering training for an RTO must have up-to-date knowledge and skill in the unit areas they are delivering. This includes industry experts. In some cases, vocational competency can be demonstrated with equivalence mapping. Use this tool to document meeting requirements in Outcome Standards 3.3.2a and 3.3.2c(i).

This 2-in-1 tool covers the RTO’s obligations to ensure that all people delivering training for or on their behalf:

• “…have industry competencies, skills and knowledge that are relevant to, and at least to the level of, the training product being delivered or assessed by the person; and
• maintain an understanding of current industry practices relevant to the training or assessment being delivered by the person” (Outcome Standard 3.3.2a)

This means any trainer/assessor, person working under direction, and industry expert must be able to demonstrate they have the vocational competencies and currency linked to what they are delivering for the RTO. This doesn’t necessarily mean all persons will hold the units they are to deliver, instead, in allowable circumstances, they may be able to demonstrate vocational competence equivalency.
