Get the easy, quick way to see the changes in the ASQA Practice Guides. V2 significantly expands use of AI as a known risk to quality. See what youre RTO needs to be aware of

On 29 October 2026, the National Vocational Education and Training (VET) Regulator, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) released an update to its suite of “Practice Guides”.

While the Practice Guides are not law (unlike the legislative instruments that make up the Standards), they show what ASQA expects. Providers can use them to assist in understanding their obligations.

This Information Guide takes the hard work out of reviewing what’s changed from V1 to V2 with respect to the known risks to quality outcomes.

Did you know? Our analysis found that about two-thirds of additions to the Practice Guides focus on use of AI tools.

Save time - use this guide to pinpoint what the changes are. Inside you’ll find:

•The changes marked up within the full known risks for each Practice Guide, so you see them in context

•The Standards where new AI-related risks have been added (Outcome Standards and Compliance Requirements)

•A short “What does this mean for me/my RTO?” summary about the changes for each Practice Guide

•An infographic giving you an “at-a-glance” understanding of the main themes behind the AI changes
