Student Files

RTOs must collect and keep information on their students’ learning activities. Considerations include the creation, maintenance, storage and access requirements associated with those files.

Certification

Certification is formal confirmation of a person’s competency, this means there must be steps taken to maintain the integrity of an RTO’s processes for issuing this official documentation.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Students undertaking nationally recognised training must have a USI in order to receive their qualification or Statement of Attainment, and RTOs must meet the requirements of the USI scheme.

Records Management

Records management is an important activity in an RTO as it ensures that records are created, stored securely and preserved for as long as they are needed.

Transition Arrangements

There are certain RTO activities that must be completed in set timeframes when a training product is superseded, removed or deleted from the national VET register.

Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA)

Responsible for providing advice to the Australian Government to underpin Australia’s response to current, emerging and future labour market and workforce skills and training needs.

Delivery Basics

‘Delivery Basics’ gives some short, sharp explanations relating to training, assessment, and associated components – including some of the stipulations of the Standards for RTOs 2015.

Training Package Development

When Training Packages are developed and/or maintained, various organisations are involved in the process to ensure occupational skills are delivered to the particular standards required by specific industries.

Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs)

Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs) have four broad functions and responsibilities, including: workforce planning; training product development; implementation, promotion and monitoring; and industry stewardship.

Trainer and Assessor Competence and Currency

Delivery of quality vocational training relies on having properly qualified educators with relevant experience. Specific requirements for trainers and assessors are mandated by the Standards.

VET Quality Framework (VQF) - Australia wide

The VET Quality Framework (VQF) is a set of standards and conditions used by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), the national VET regulator, to assess whether registered training organisations (RTOs) under its jurisdiction meet the requirements for registration. To obtain and retain registration, RTOs must comply with each of the elements and their associated components.
