NCVER: Report - Issues in apprenticeships and traineeships – a research synthesis (November 2021)

This resource considers research and data on what could be considered five enduring issues for apprenticeships and traineeships in Australia. These are congestion and harmonisation, completions, incentive payments and other supports to employers and apprentices/trainees, the interface between the apprentice/trainee and training providers, and the relevance of the current model of apprenticeship training.

Taylor & Francis Online: Designing assessment for inclusion: an exploration of diverse students’ assessment experiences (2022)

A students-as-partners approach was taken to explore diverse students’ experiences of assessment, and their suggestions to make assessment more inclusive. A team of six staff and five student partners undertook a co-research project, facilitating workshops with 52 students from diverse backgrounds to understand their assessment experiences.

NCVER: VET and higher education pathways – do outcomes differ for the same occupation? (2022)

This report explores occupations that can be entered into via either a vocational education and training (VET) pathway or a higher education pathway. It examines whether these individuals do the same job tasks and roles, if there are differences in how well the qualifications prepare them for the role and whether they have the same occupation and employment outcomes, such as salary and career pathways.

This report translates what we know about the jobs of the future into what it means for the skills of the future. It assesses in detail how much time, in hours, every worker in Australia has spent on education and training over their lifetime – and how much these investments in skills will likely need to change by 2040.

AiGroup: The Quest for Skills: Tackling shortages in a disrupted world (2021)

The report contextualises member reported shortages within broader macroeconomic trends and the current policy mix. It outlines the short, medium and long-term approaches businesses can adopt to prevent abrupt skill shortages hindering their business operations and growth.
