Government Organisations

Aside from regulators, researchers and approval and/or governing bodies, there are government organisations with responsibility to implement and uphold the quality delivery of vocational training.

Delivery Basics

‘Delivery Basics’ gives some short, sharp explanations relating to training, assessment, and associated components – including some of the stipulations of the Standards for RTOs 2015.

Mapping

Assessment needs to adequately cover all aspects of a unit of competency and its associated assessment requirements. Mapping is the process of checking and recording all necessary information is addressed.

Continuous Improvement

RTOs should have a system for how they will pinpoint and action opportunities for continuous improvement of their operations.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The aim of RPL is to formally recognise existing competencies without having to go through the complete training process.

Training Packages

Designed to be industry and sector skills specific, Training Packages are an integrated set of nationally endorsed Units of Competency, AQF qualifications and assessment guidelines that outline the expected outcomes of training.

Certification

Certification is formal confirmation of a person’s competency, this means there must be steps taken to maintain the integrity of an RTO’s processes for issuing this official documentation.

Training Package Development

When Training Packages are developed and/or maintained, various organisations are involved in the process to ensure occupational skills are delivered to the particular standards required by specific industries.

Training Product Review

A ‘Training Product Review’ is an internal review of an RTO’s product offerings on scope, primarily against Standard 1.

Recruitment

Recruitment is about finding the right people with the right experience, qualifications and attitude to help the business succeed.

Moderation

Moderation is an activity aimed at bringing assessment judgements into alignment and is a quality control process.

Validation

Assessment validation is a quality review process that should always be conducted against assessment tools prior to, during and after use.
