2020 is Looming: Validation – the plan, the process and the outcomes (Webinar Series)

16, 23, 30 July 2019
ONLINE

This three-part webinar series covers the steps of planning, preparation, conducting and recording validation activities and suggests there are twenty steps in getting it right!

No wonder the 2015 Standards for Registered Training Organisations places so much emphasis on using systematic validation to achieve quality in assessment processes, practices and outcomes.

Every step is an opportunity to get it right. Getting it wrong can result in consequences we don’t even want to consider.

Key topics covered within the webinar series

Session 1: Keep on, Rolling on: The 5-year plan

This first webinar of the three-part series will look at what the Standards required looking ahead five years to the 31st March 2020. In reality it was never only going to be 5 years.

Join John as he unpacks the Keep on, Rolling on! concept: the never ending 5-year cycle.

In this session he will explore the questions:

  • What were the ‘highs’ and ‘lows’ in your first 5 years?
  • What will you do differently in the next 5 years?
  • What might the new plan look like to continue our success?

Session 2: Developing a systematic validation assessment process

Ever wondered what should a ‘systematic validation of assessment’ procedure include?

In this second webinar of the three-part series, John will look to answer this question. He will explore topics such as:

  • Using an independent assessor and how we might overcome the difficulty of finding one
  • Preparing to carry-out the process in a statistically valid way
  • Assessment tools and the assessment judgement process
  • Determining a statistically valid sample size
  • Randomly selecting the sample assessments

Session 3: Putting it all into action

This final webinar in the three-part series looks to clarifying the differences between pre- and post- assessment validation activities.

John will explain the importance of working as an effective validation team that considers the stakeholders in the process and the recording of the results. Areas of focus in this webinar will be:

  • Typical findings and the impact they may have had on students
  • Developing action plans
  • Determining remedial action and considering the impact it could have on the RTO's operations
