About this webinar

The standards for RTO’s place a responsibility on all trainers and assessors to maintain their industry subject matter expertise along with their vocational capability. While formalised professional development contributes to this process, involvement in industry forums, projects and communities of practice provide rich opportunities for building currency.

Reflective thinking from these experiences should promote new opportunities for innovative approaches to industry training that contribute to continuous improvement for the RTO and trainers/assessors alike.

In this webinar we will cover:

  • Differences between industry currency and vocational competency for trainers/assessors
  • Strategies to maintain and demonstrate currency
  • Developing a PD plan with stakeholders to formalise strategies for currency and build new understanding
  • Using critical reflection to evaluate strategies and experiences to improve teaching and learning and initiate new approaches

At the end of this session you will:

  • Understand the importance of PD planning
  • Reflect on networks and community of practice opportunities to deepen exposure to current trends and approaches
  • Build a list of reflective questions to evaluate new experiences, learning and thinking on industry and training
  • Determine a spread of diverse opportunities beyond the workplace and classroom to hear new voices and approaches
  • Look anew at opportunities in social media to participate in discussions and reflections from relevant thought leaders
