Show Me the Way: Mapping the Importance of Mapping

6 May 2020
ONLINE

This session was presented as a beginner-level topic at the 2019 National VET Conference and even experienced practitioners who attended said they took away something valuable!

What attendees had to say:

Very honest presentation that reflected Michelle's experience and keen awareness of what makes good mapping. Gave me plenty to think about with lots of valuable insights. D Noud

A difficult topic, well-handled and insightful J Brown

This session was very useful for me and my role. The information Michelle provided was great.

Mapping of assessments is a hidden gem when it comes to compliance. Although not actually mandated as a requirement of the Standards for RTOs 2015, accurate mapping underpins the direction your RTO is taking with regards to its provision of quality training and assessment, and is a must-have for when it comes to navigating assessments against unit requirements.

Ineffective mapping is a danger to your RTO - it can give a false security that all unit and Training Package requirements are covered when they are not. Mapping needs to be accurate and it needs to be done by someone who can accurately analyse the language and wording used in both the unit and the assessment to determine whether an assessment instrument is collecting the evidence it is supposed to. Use this session to learn what constitutes an accurate mapping document.

So, if you’d like to delve into best-practice mapping and/or confirm your own current practice, join Michelle for this popular session on 6 May 2020.
