28 January 2020 : Plain English for VET

Presented by:   Leonie Swift

This Members Lunchbox Webinar will explore the benefits of using plain English in the VET Sector.

Let’s face it – no-one likes to wade through long, wordy documents. Plain English is clear, concise writing, which is easy to understand the first time you read it.

Clear communication benefits everyone, but, for RTOs, plain English is especially important. Ambiguous training resources can cause confusion and frustration for learners. Ultimately, they can lose heart, disengage and give up.

By writing all your training resources in plain English, you give your learners the best chance of success. You will also save valuable time and money.

But writing clearly and concisely is not always as easy as it looks. These workshops give RTO staff the skills to create clear, professional resources, which won’t bog the readers down. And along the way, we will have a good laugh with my “street-sign guide’ to grammar!

Explore with Leonie Swift this January:

  • What is Plain English?
  • Benefits of Plain English for VET practitioners
  • The building blocks of good writing: the 5-step process
  • Know your enemy - common writing pitfalls
  • Applying Plain English to training resources
  • Tips and checklists
