NVPDW: Validation - The findings

15 November 2021
ONLINE

This 60-minute session is one of five available during the 2021 National VET PD Week. The first webinar in National VET PD Week will provide a run-down of the research that resulted in a paper on independent validation of assessment, published by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research in July 2021. Find out what the sector had to say from the author of the report!

About this session

Don’t have time to read research reports?

In July 2021, NCVER published a research report: Begin with the end: RTO practices and views on independent validation of assessment, which sought to deepen understanding of the persistent issues registered training organisations (RTOs) encounter when conducting independent moderation and validation of assessments, and of the nature of industry involvement in these processes.

Join the author of the paper on independent validation of assessment, Francesca Beddie, as she unpacks the findings. She will give you a quick run-down of the research that resulted, what previous pilots found was effective, and distill the points made by the many RTO practitioners she interviewed.

It’s quite likely what you hear won’t be new but instead will show you are not alone in facing challenges!

Throughout National VET PD Week, sessions will hone in on some of those challenges identified by the research:

  • Clarifying definitions and requirements
  • Ensuring validation contributes to continuous improvement
  • Operating in the online environment
  • Engaging with colleagues, including in industry

Got a burning question for Francesca?  She is ready to respond to your live questions and comments at the event, but you can also Click Here to record your question on notice. (Submissions have now closed)
