25 October 2021:
October Members Lunch Box - Leveraging Digital Skills and Aligning your Training to Adapt to Employers Needs

Presented by:   Patrick Kidd

The Digital Skills Organisation (DSO) is responsible for the development of new approaches to digital skills training that meet the needs of employers and employees across all industry sectors – tech and non-tech.

With a significant focus on understanding the current effectiveness of engagement between VET and industry and employers, this nexus is in many ways the most important factor in designing a future model to accelerate and increase digital skills, addressing the supply and demand problem of our nation.

Through capturing best practice and trialling a skills based model for digital skills development, DSO seeks to reset the relationships and roles of learners, employers and training providers and change the ways in which digital skills are designed, delivered and assessed.

Training organisations are at the heart of this, and by proactively working with the sector DSO aims to test a draft model that focuses on:

  1.    Employer-led Digital Skills Standards which engender confidence in the people who have attained that standard.
  2.    Digital Career Pathways which provide a common language to help explain options for investment in digital skills.
  3.    Digital Centres of Excellence which focus digital knowledge, expertise and training support to help uplift capability across registered training providers.

Key topics covered within the webinar

  • Importance of working together to trial and evolve digital upskilling initiatives.
  • The need for a new approach to enable open information sharing and aligning taxonomy across the sector.
  • How DSO can support and align training organisations with evidence-based tools and facilitating effective relationships with employers.
  • How we can all influence change by advocating for a new national system through VET.
  • How you can get involved and provide feedback.?
