Session Overview

From 1 July, an RTO needs to have in place a procedure to review prospective students’ skills and competencies (including language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy) to enable provision of advice to prospective students about the suitability of the training product.

RTOs need to tailor how they assess prospective students' skills and give advice based on the type of course, their setup, and the cohort of students, ensuring the approach is suitable for the situation.

Join Angela McGregor from RTO Consulting in this 90-minute session that explores this requirement deeper. She’ll take you through misconceptions, obligations and practices for RTOs to not only meet compliance but to ensure students are not enrolled into training products that don’t meet their needs.

During this session we will explore the following:

  • What do the Standards say?
  • Are we just talking about language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills?
  • How do we determine entry requirements (according to training product and cohort)
  • How do we ensure that students meet the entry requirements/what if students don’t meet them?
  • Is there an off the shelf, suits every RTO solution?

Key Topics Covered

  • Pre-entry requirements
  • LLND or more?
  • How to determine entry requirements
  • Advising students
  • Challenges
