Overview

Effective support can be a deciding factor for students to stay or leave their VET program. Consequently, training providers and their partners need to provide students with appropriate supports throughout their learner journey, providing them the best chance to complete their studies.

This webinar, based on recent NCVER research will explore six key elements of effective student support and present practical guidance on how to implement support strategies across the learner journey from pre-enrolment right through to completion.

The session will highlight the importance of targeted support for priority groups, including First Nations students, culturally and linguistically diverse students, and students with disabilities.

This session will also explore several challenges to providing effective student support, including internal/RTO based factors, student-related factors, and external factors.

Key topics covered within the webinar

  • The key elements of effective student support
  • When and how support needs are identified and provided through the learner journey
  • Supports provided to priority cohorts
  • Challenges in providing and accessing student support
