This webinar forms part of our VET Workforce Week hosted by Velg Training and MRWED.

About this webinar

Creating a learning environment where everyone feels welcome and respected doesn’t just happen — it takes intent, reflection, and the right support. This 90-minute online session is designed for VET practitioners across all roles — whether you’re delivering training, supporting learners, managing teams, or leading an RTO.

We’ll take a practical look at what inclusion really means in everyday VET practice. That includes making spaces culturally safe for First Nations learners, as well as learners from migrant, refugee, faith-based and other culturally diverse backgrounds.

You’ll explore real-world examples, unpack common challenges, and reflect on how we can do better — not with more red tape, but with real actions that make a difference. Whether you work in the classroom, behind the scenes, or at a strategic level, this session will leave you with tools, insights, and ideas you can use straight away.

By the end of the session, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe what an inclusive and culturally safe learning environment looks and feels like — in person or online.

  • Recognise how bias and assumptions can show up in training delivery, policies, or learner interactions.

  • Apply inclusive strategies that support a wide range of learners — especially First Nations students and others from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Connect inclusion to your own role, whether you're teaching, coordinating, recruiting or managing.

  • Take home practical tools, checklists, and ideas to share with your team or put into action yourself.
