Standard 3.1 of the revised standards for RTOs is focused on the effective management of the VET workforce to ensure appropriate staffing to deliver its services.
This represents an important safeguard for the industry as it requires RTOs to suitably prepare trainers, assessors and other staff for the delivery of the services it offers.
This includes facilitating access to continuing professional development opportunities to enable all staff in the organisation to effectively perform their role.
This session examines what relevant, meaningful and appropriate professional development could look like for different VET workforce roles and will discuss how this PD could be effectively tracked and evidenced at audit. It will also offer ideas on how to create robust options to extend the capacity of the workers in the sector, including an exploration of the convergence between formal and informal PD opportunities.
Finally, to support implementation, case studies will be provided that highlight how RTOs could meet their professional development responsibilities whilst enhancing the capabilities of the team and ultimately, the experience for learners.

Geoff brings more than 25 years of training and facilitation experience to the organisation, gained in both Australian and international environments. He continues to passionately demonstrate the ability to encourage learners to develop new skills and mind sets in a variety of diverse cultural and economic settings.
