This webinar forms part of our VET Workforce Week hosted by Velg Training and MRWED.

About this webinar

Maintaining trainer currency and industry skills are requirements for all trainers in the VET sector.

In fact, under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2025 (Standard 3.3), it states that training and assessment must only be delivered by persons with current industry skills and knowledge relevant to the training product.

However, this is something that proves problematic for many practitioners, either in terms of recording their proficiency or in actually staying current.

This session provides practical tips for managing trainer currency of relevant industry skills and provides a set of tangible strategies and templates to support the journey towards compliance.

Further to this, a range of examples and case studies will be provided which show how industry skills could be demonstrated by trainers and assessors in a variety of vocational areas and RTO settings.

Key topics covered within webinar

  • Identify currency requirements under the Standards for RTOs 2025
  • Explain how trainers and assessors can maintain current industry skills.
  • Explore strategies for capturing evidence of industry currency.
  • Identify resources available to support the management of trainer currency.
  • Review examples of how industry skills could be extended in a variety of vocational areas and RTO settings.
