Building a culture of professional development in your RTO

28 November 2017

The importance of ongoing professional development can often be overlooked in any business, let alone RTOs, where the focus is often on ticking all the compliance boxes and attracting more and more students. However, offering ongoing professional development to staff and building a culture where it is seen as ‘business as usual’ can have important benefits for your RTO such as increasing retention and productivity and attracting the right calibre of professionals to your team. Staff can also bring their learning into your courses and delivery strategies as well as in the professionalism and expertise they bring to their interactions with your students and clients.

So how can an organisation start to build a culture of professional development? This webinar looks at the benefits of professional development, tips and strategies to fostering it in your organisation and provides some ideas for both informal and formal approaches to development in the VET sector.

Key topics covered within webinar

  • What is professional development
  • Why is it important for staff and RTOs
  • Breaking down the professional development requirements in the Standards
  • Tips and strategies for developing a culture of professional development
  • Fostering ongoing learning in your organisation
  • Sourcing appropriate professional development
  • Linking professional development back to industry engagement
