Focus Week: The 123 of Creating Observation Checklists

20 March 2018
ONLINE

This webinar is one of five available during Velg Training's dedicated Focus Week - Assessment.  The webinars that form the Focus Week are designed to focus particular attention on how assessment is both developed and administered, ensuring a focal point on the continual improvement of these practices.

About this webinar

Units of competency describe both the skills and knowledge (amongst other aspects) that students must demonstrate in order to be deemed competent.

Evidence of these judgments needs to be retained for a period of time, but how do we keep evidence of a student's performance of skills for the cake they baked months ago? One solution is to ensure the RTO uses comprehensive observation checklists to keep a record of the performance of skills. This webinar will break the process down of developing quality observation checklists for evidence gathering.

Key topics covered within webinar

  • Purpose of an observation checklist
  • What is not an observation checklist
  • Analysing the task
  • Defining observable behaviours
  • Mapping to the unit of competency
