Unit Task Analysis for Student Skills Requirements (inc. LLND) Template

Standard 2.2.2b of the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator (Outcome Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations) Instrument 2025 (the ‘Outcome Standards’), requires RTOs to demonstrate that they have given advice to prospective students about whether the training product they are interested in is suitable for them, based on their current skills and competencies.

As part of being able to provide that advice, RTOs must be able to identify what specific skills and competencies – including language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills proficiencies – are required to successfully undertake the program according to the way the RTO is delivering it.

This tool helps unpack the course to identify the skills and competencies required to successfully undertake it.

The tool includes:

• An overview information sheet
• Choice of three (3) editable excel worksheets:
• One which focuses on identification of the required skills
• One which helps you record identified skills as well as the particular ACSF level, and for digital skills, the DigComp Competency and Level within with the specific DigComp Area
• The third is the same as the above but is macro-enabled, meaning it has built in multi-select cell options within the sheet
• A copy of the DigComp 2.2 competence areas and levels, and the list of its 21 digital competencies

While this tool’s main focus is on the identification and recording of required skills and competencies, it also provides a prompt for generative AI models to assist with that task and from that, the:

• Development of skills requirements overview statements
• Development of screening test questions that are tailored to the specific unit skills requirements already identified
