Government Organisations

Aside from regulators, researchers and approval and/or governing bodies, there are government organisations with responsibility to implement and uphold the quality delivery of vocational training.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

The AQF applies in all states and territories and describes the standards for regulated Australian qualifications delivered through schools, higher education institutions and RTOs.

Assessment - Standards 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5

Standards 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 relate to the focus area of assessment.

Student Enrolment

Certain information is required from students when they enrol and are formally admitted to a course of study.

Student Files

RTOs must collect and keep information on their students’ learning activities. Considerations include the creation, maintenance, storage and access requirements associated with those files.

Governance

Good governance is crucial for all RTOs as it establishes systems, policies and practices that ensure accountability, transparency and integrity.

First Nations Cultural Safety

Supporting cultural safety involves building trust, adapting practices where needed, and ensuring First Nations learners feel valued and included.

Mapping

Assessment needs to be fit-for-purpose and consistent with the specific training product. Mapping is the process of checking and recording all necessary information is addressed.

Foundation Skills

Foundation Skills is the collective name given to language, literacy, numeracy, digital (LLND) and employability skills. Trainers may need specialist support services to assist students to develop Foundation Skills.

Validation

Validation is the review of the assessment system to ensure that assessment tools are consistent with the training product and the requirements of the Standards; and assessments and assessment judgements are producing consistent outcomes.

Working Under Direction

The Standards use the term “direction” to describe the arrangement where a person is working under the responsibility of a qualified trainer or assessor. It applies when a person does not yet hold the required credentials to deliver training or make assessment judgements.

Section 3: Credentials for Validation of Assessment

Section 3 of the Credential Policy specifies credential requirements for individuals conducting validation of assessment.
