Validation

Validation is the review of the assessment system to ensure that assessment tools are consistent with the training product and the requirements of the Standards; and assessments and assessment judgements are producing consistent outcomes.

Working Under Direction

The Standards use the term “direction” to describe the arrangement where a person is working under the responsibility of a qualified trainer or assessor. It applies when a person does not yet hold the required credentials to deliver training or make assessment judgements.

Section 3: Credentials for Validation of Assessment

Section 3 of the Credential Policy specifies credential requirements for individuals conducting validation of assessment.

International Students

There are specific requirements for education and training providers who wish to be registered to deliver to international students.

Foundation Skills

Foundation Skills is the collective name given to langing, literacy, numeracy, digital (LLND) and employability skills. Trainers may need specialist support services to assist students to develop Foundation Skills.

First Nations Cultural Safety

Supporting cultural safety involves building trust, adapting practices where needed, and ensuring First Nations learners feel valued and included.

Mapping

Assessment needs to be fit-for-purpose and consistent with the specific training product. Mapping is the process of checking and recording all necessary information is addressed.

Wellbeing - Standard 2.6

Standard 2.6 relates to the focus area of wellbeing.

Identifying Support Needs

RTOs must identify each student’s skills, support needs, disability disclosures, and wellbeing requirements to ensure appropriate advice and assistance is provided throughout their training journey.

Risk management - Standard 4.3

Standard 4.3 relates to the focus area of risk management.

Outcome Standards

The Outcome Standards set out the key elements of quality training and assessment, which organisations must demonstrate to be registered, and maintain registration, as a training provider.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The aim of RPL is to formally recognise existing competencies without having to go through the complete training process.
