Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

The AQF applies in all states and territories and describes the standards for regulated Australian qualifications delivered through schools, higher education institutions and RTOs.

Validation

Validation is the review of the assessment system to ensure that assessment tools are consistent with the training product and the requirements of the Standards; and assessments and assessment judgements are producing consistent outcomes.

Skill Sets and Microcredentials

Skill Sets are a single Unit of Competency or combinations of Units of Competency from an endorsed Training Package, which link to a licensing or regulatory requirement, or a defined industry need or job role. Micro-credentials are small, certification-style courses that focus on a particular area of study to hone proficiency over the shortest possible time.

Qualifications

As one part of the endorsed component of a Training Package, qualifications are a group of Units of Competency ‘packaged’ together as the requirement for working in a particular industry role at a specific level. A qualification is also the official documentation recognising competency in all of the units specific to a particular grouping of units.

Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence

The Principles of Assessment and the Rules of Evidence guide assessors in making consistent, justifiable decisions about a student’s competency, regardless of their delivery context or learning pathway.

Funding Arrangements

Knowing what qualifications are listed for funding contracts, and what threshold amounts are, is vital when looking to secure this type of income stream for your RTO.

Artificial Intelligence

Valuable information, tools, and supportive links to navigate the evolving landscape of AI in education.

Human Resources

Employees are an organisation’s biggest asset. Ways to responsibly and effectively manage human resources are critical for any business – including RTOs.

Informing Learners

Prospective students must be given clear, accurate and timely information to make informed decisions about their training, and must be advised on whether the training product is suitable for their skills and abilities before they enrol.

Assessment - Standards 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5

Standards 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 relate to the focus area of assessment.

Student Enrolment

Certain information is required from students when they enrol and are formally admitted to a course of study.
