Student Files

RTOs must collect and keep information on their students’ learning activities. Considerations include the creation, maintenance, storage and access requirements associated with those files.

Third Party Arrangements

RTOs are responsible for all services delivered on their behalf, therefore should have written third-party or partnership agreements in place to monitor all parties’ compliance with the Standards.

Marketing

RTOs must balance their sales and growth needs with specific requirements and allowable practices related to the marketing of their training products and services.

Continuous Improvement

RTOs should have a system for how they will pinpoint and action opportunities for continuous improvement of their operations.

VET Workforce Management - Standard 3.1

Standard 3.1 relates to the focus area of VET workforce management.

Government Organisations

Aside from regulators, researchers and approval and/or governing bodies, there are government organisations with responsibility to implement and uphold the quality delivery of vocational training.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Students undertaking nationally recognised training must have a USI in order to receive their qualification or Statement of Attainment, and RTOs must meet the requirements of the USI scheme.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

The AQF applies in all states and territories and describes the standards for regulated Australian qualifications delivered through schools, higher education institutions and RTOs.

Division 3 - Accountability

Division 3 of the Compliance Requirements outline requirements related to transparency, financial security, and legal compliance that an RTO must meet at all times.

Division 2 - Integrity of Nationally Recognised Training Products

Division 2 of the Compliance Requirements outline requirements for the issuing and recording of nationally recognised training products that an RTO must meet at all times.

Recognition of prior learning and credit transfer - Standard 1.6 and 1.7

Standard 1.6 and 1.7 relates to the focus area of recognition of prior learning and credit transfer.

Regulators

VET regulators are independent bodies working to uphold the quality of VET delivered in Australia. They perform a number of functions including the registration of RTOs and subsequent monitoring of their operations for compliance with relevant standards.
