Student equity in VET 2021: participation, achievement and outcomes (2023)

This publication presents information on how different equity groups fare in their VET journey. The featured equity groups have historically been disadvantaged in accessing and benefiting from education in Australia. We focus on their participation, achievement in and outcomes from VET.

AQTF Framework - Victoria only

Before the introduction of the Standards for RTOs 2015, the AQTF outlined compliance requirements for the registration and operation of RTOs in Australia. Now, the AQTF (in conjunction with the ‘2016 VRQA Guidelines for VET Providers’) is only used by RTOs under the jurisdiction of the VRQA.

Pre-Use Assessment Tool Review

Assessment tools must be reviewed prior to use to ensure assessment can be conducted in a way that is consistent with the principles of assessment and rules of evidence.

Access to Support

RTOs are responsible for ensuring all students can access the learner support and wellbeing services they need to fully participate in and successfully complete their course.

Registration and Addition to Scope

Training providers must meet requirements specific to the relevant regulators in order to become registered to deliver VET in Australia.

Reforms and Changes

This area on the Knowledge Hub is dedicated to keeping you up-to-date with the latest reforms and changes in the VET sector

Training Packages

Designed to be industry and sector skills specific, Training Packages are an integrated set of nationally endorsed Units of Competency, AQF qualifications and assessment guidelines that outline the expected outcomes of training.

Units of Competency

A Unit of Competency is the smallest component of a Training Package that can be assessed and recognised. It gives a description of the skills and knowledge required to perform effectively to a specific standard in a particular workplace role or function.

Informing Learners

Prospective students must be given clear, accurate and timely information to make informed decisions about their training, and must be advised on whether the training product is suitable for their skills and abilities before they enrol.

Certification

Certification is formal confirmation of a person’s competency, this means there must be steps taken to maintain the integrity of an RTO’s processes for issuing this official documentation.

International Students

There are specific requirements for education and training providers who wish to be registered to deliver to international students.
