2018 National VET Conference FAQs

Q. How do I download the conference App?
A. To download the App you simply go to the App Store (iPhone) here or the Google Play Store (Android) here.   You may be asked to enter your Apple ID (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) details, just like you do when downloading any other App.

Q. How do I log-in to the App?
A. To log-in to the App you simply use your Velg Training Profile log in and password.  (i.e. your email address associated with your Velg Training Profile).  If you cannot remember your password, simply click the ‘reset password’ option on the login page of the App. Or visit our website www.velgtraining.com, enter your email address and then select the “reset password” option.  Your link to reset your password will be emailed to you. 

If you have any trouble with resetting your password please visit Tina Lloyd (Membership Manager) at the Velg Training Booths (32&33) in Hall H.

Q. How do I book accommodation.
A.  In House Event Solutions will once again be providing some fantastic accommodation options for our delegates in Adelaide for the 2018 National VET Conference.

On behalf of delegates attending the conference, various accommodation options have been negotiated on your behalf at a range of hotels & apartments. The special rates listed will be open until 12 August, 2018 or until sold out.

Q. Do you have a Cloak Room?
A. Yes we do, it is located at the Adelaide Convention Centre Reception, Ground Floor.

Q. What are the opening and closing hours of the Cloak Room?
A. Day 1: 7.30am – 9.00pm, Day 2: 8.00am – 5.00pm

Q. What happens if I forgot to collect my items from the Cloak Room on Thursday?
A. Your items will still be in the cloak room on Friday.

 Q. What is the dress code for the Conference?
A: The dress code is smart casual.

 Q. I have special dietary requirements, where are my meals?
A. The dietary requirement catering station will be clearly marked with the appropriate dietary specifications in the Exhibition Hall.

Q. I forgot to advise of my dietary requirement?
A. Please go to the Info Desk, fill out the dietary requirements form and we will be able to amend your name tag. 

Q. Can you give me a delegate listing?
A. No, unfortunately for privacy reasons we are unable to release our delegate listing.

Q. Do you have a special deal with flights to the Conference?
A.  Yes, we do.

 Q. How do I provide feedback on the conference?
A. You are able to provide feedback via the Conference App. Additionally, you will receive electronic resources within a week of the commencement of the National VET Conference, which include a link to the event feedback survey.

Q. Can I have a copy of the Floor plan?
A. There is a copy of the floor plan in your National VET Conference handbook, otherwise we have print outs available at the Info desk.

Q. Where can I find a first aid kit?
A. First aid kits can be found at the Adelaide Convention Centre reception. This is located directly inside the Ground Floor entrance.

Q. How does the Guru Bar Work?
A. The guru bar provides access to 10 highly regarded VET Gurus. Delegates can visit Tracey Silcox at the Velg Training Booth to make an appointment to talk to the Gurus and ask questions.

 Q. Where is the Guru Bar located?
A. The Guru Bar is located at the Velg Training Booth in the Exhibition Hall.

Q. I witnessed an incident, do I need to report it?
A. Depending on the severity of the incident, an Incident Report can be filled out. Incident reports can be found at the Info Desk.

 Q. I would like to interact with my peers at the conference via social media, will there be wireless internet available?
A. Yes, Velg Training has arranged for access to free Wireless Internet for all conference attendees. Both the user name and

Q. Where can I find information on…?
A. Please visit the Info Desk if you require information about anything and a staff member will be able to help you out.

 Q. What happens if I forget my lanyard on Day 2?
A. Please visit a Velg Training Staff member at the Registration/Info desk and they will arrange for a new lanyard to be printed.

Q. Do I need to carry the lanyard with me?
A. Yes, you need to wear your lanyard at all times as this grants you access to all areas of the National VET Conference.

Q. Where are the lifts located?
A. The lifts are located throughout the Adelaide Convention Centre and are easily identifiable.

Q: Can I attend more than one Master Class?
A: Delegates are able to register for up to two Master Classes each. Master Classes are held on Wednesday 12th September 2018.

Q. Can I make a name change on the day of the conference?
A. Yes, please visit the registration desk and a Velg Training staff member will be able arrange for your name change.

Q. What do I do if my name has been spelt incorrectly?
A. Please visit a Velg Training staff member at the Info desk to have your name tag amended.

Q. Is there a prayer room?
A. Yes, the prayer room is located in the Skyway Office.

Q. I am presenting at the Conference, what do I?
A. Present yourself at the Velg Training Registration Desk where you will be escorted to the Presenter’s Prep room. A technician will be present in the room at all times. You will be able to test and modify your presentation if necessary.

Q. Is there a Presenter Room I can go to prep?
A. Yes, the presenter room is located Skyway Office.

Q. How do I know if I have won a prize?
A. All prize winners will be posted on the Velg Training app  or clicking here . You will need to collect your prize from the Velg Training Members Booth. 

Q. Where do I collect my prize from?
A. If you have won a session prize or Social Media prize, please visit the Velg Training Booth to collect your prize.

Q. Where can I find a copy of the program?
A. A copy of the program is provided in your National VET Conference handbook. There is also a copy of the program in the Conference App. If you would like another copy of the program you are able to visit the Info desk and a Velg Training staff member can provide a print out.

Q. If I am a booth monitor can I access presentations?
A. Unfortunately you are unable to attend any National VET Conference sessions.

Q. Is there parking at the Adelaide Convention Centre?
A. Yes. If you are driving to the Centre, we offer two undercover car parking options with the North Terrace and the Riverbank car parks. Both are located directly under the Centre and are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Clearance is 2.0 metres and automated payment stations accept credit/debit cards (1.5% surcharge for Visa, Mastercard, Diners and Amex).

General Parking Rates

The following rates are applicable for both car parks. EARLY BIRD   $16.00

Available 7 days for entry between 5.30am-9:30am and exit between 2.30pm-6:30pm. Outside of these times casual parking charges will apply.

Q. Is there a Pharmacy near the Conference Centre?
A. The closest Pharmacy is located on Hynde Street,

Q. Can I get a refund if I am unable to attend the conference on the day?
A. Unfortunately no. Our Terms and Conditions state that no refunds will be provided from Monday 13 August 2018. However, you are able to send a substitute delegate in your place.

Q. How does the RnR Bar work?
A. Free neck, back and hand massages will be available for delegates between 10.30am and 5.30pm on both days at the Velg Training Booth. You will need to book in to secure a time for your massage.

Q. How do I register when I arrive? What time does the registration desk open and close?
A.  When you arrive at the Adelaide Convention Centre proceed to the Velg Training Registration desk on the Ground Floor. Early Registration will be open on Wednesday 12th September from 3.00pm to 5.00pm and Thursday 8.30am – 9.00am.

Q. How to I register my attendance on the day?
A. This year, thanks to our Registration Sponsor, we are using the Blackboard Attendance application. Simply come to the registration desk at the venue to collect your name tag, lanyard and satchel bag, and use your name tag to “tap to register”. Tap the tag against the receiver (a small beep and green light will occur). And that’s it! The Attendance application does the rest!

 Q. Do I HAVE to tap my name tag in and out of every room?
A. There will be check-in receivers located on tables at the doors of each room/session (and the Welcome Function). We would love you to TAP (only as you enter each session). While it is not compulsory to tap, you do need to “tap to win”. This is the way you will go into the competition draws to win prizes!

The information collected about the numbers of delegates in each session will also help us build programs for future events!

No personal information relating to your attendance at each session will be kept.

Q. What’s included in my registration?
A. Velg Training National VET Conference Registration includes attendance to all sessions (excluding Masterclasses) lunch, morning and afternoon tea during the two days of the 13th-14th September, Conference Handbook, name badge and Welcome Function evening 13th September.

 Q. Can I come and go from sessions?
A. Absolutely, although please be understanding of other participants and keep disruptions to a minimum.

Q: I am interested in a number of sessions and some of these conflict. Is there any way I can access the training for conflicting sessions?
A: Attendees will receive electronic resources for ALL sessions at the conclusion of the conference, regardless of which sessions they choose to attend.

 Q. Will I receive a Statement of Attendance for my professional development records?
A. Yes, provided that you do attend the National VET Conference. Statements of Attendance are sent out along with your resources the week following the conference.

Q. What happens if I forget my Velg Training Satchel on Day 2?
A. That’s okay, you do not need your satchel. However, you will need to go to the Community Notice Board to check what is going on.

Q. Where can I get a taxi from?
A. There is a taxi rank located on Morphett Street - Victoria Bridge on the western side of the convention centre.

Q. Where are the toilets located?
A. Multiple toilets are located on each level of the convention centre and are clearly marked.

Q. Where do I go when I arrive at the venue?
A. Please head to the registration area, located directly inside the main entrance.

Q. I have registered for the conference and would like to attend the Welcome Function, do I need to buy a ticket?
A. No, the Welcome Function is included for all registered conference delegates.

Q. What should I wear to the conference and the Welcome Function?
A. Although the Welcome Function is cocktail dress, most attendees will go straight from the conference to the event, so please wear whatever you are comfortable in. The location is fully air conditioned, so it is recommended that you bring a light jacket.

Q. Where is the Welcome Function located?
A. The Welcome Function is located in the Panorama Ballroom.

Q. Can I bring along a partner to the Welcome Function?
A. Yes, you can. Please see the Registration Desk and complete a form. The cost will be $99.00.

Q. Can I do a walk in registration?
A. Absolutely, please see a Velg Training Member at the Registration Desk and arrange for registration for the conference.

Q. Is there wheelchair access?
A. Yes, wheelchair access is available to all areas of the building, including wheelchair access from the car park.
