Assessment Development for Higher Qualifications

This brand new workshop has been developed in response to requests for PD specific to higher level units.  It provides for active participation by individuals who wish to develop assessment tools that address the benchmarks set by industry but also take into account compliance related issues.

It will focus specifically on Certificate IV and Diploma level units, de-constructing a unit of competency and identifying the various components to be addressed and the possible methods of assessment that are feasible.

Key topics covered in the Workshop

  • The rules that apply are really resources
    • Reviewing the Principles of Assessment, Rules of Evidence, the ACSF, AQF and how they relate to the building of assessment instruments
  • What’s in a unit of competency?
    • Analysing the construction and content of a unit of competency
  • Conduct of assessment
    • The good, the bad, the ‘what is that’?
  • Assessment tool development
    • Construct of an assessment tool, considering relevant methods of evidence gathering and applying the information discussed in the previous sessions

Jennine Cochrane

Consultant
VET Logistics

Jennine Cochrane owns and operates VET Logistics. She has extensive experience in the requirements for the provision of education for both Government and private RTO sectors.

Jennine has worked as a Quality Consultant for NARA and Lead Auditor for the VRQA, providing both audit and consulting services in accordance with the AQTF (Initial and Ongoing) and CRICOS.

More recently she has been employed by the national regulator of VET, ASQA, as a Principal Compliance Auditor, conducting both VET and CRICOS audits.

Jennine has a thorough understanding of ongoing registration requirements to meet both the Standards for RTOs 2015 and the AQTF.

Her proven knowledge in quality assessment has assisted RTOs to develop quality assessment instruments to ensure the ongoing provision of quality training and assessment services to their clients.
