Many Thanks for the Two Red Watering Cans

Many Thanks for the Two Red Watering Cans image

Drought- and bushfire-stricken Queensland town of Stanthorpe was already struggling in the grip of the severe drought and predicted to run out of water by Christmas.

Velg Training was proud to support the initiative by two local Brisbane-based family businesses to raise funds for the Stanthorpe community.  Two red watering cans were stationed to collect spare change; one near the registration sign in counter and the other at the VELGHUB, where delegates could talk to a VET expert by appointment.

We’re proud to announce that a total of $547.75 was raised through the generous donations of attendees to the Velg Training National VET Conference.  This equates to about two pallets of bottled water or 140 loads of washing at a laundromat!

Fundraising instigators, Browns Plains Hardware and Validations: VET Assessment Validation Services pass on their sincere thanks to all involved and are contacting Stanthorpe community representatives to confirm the best use of the donated funds.

On Friday afternoon after the NVC, the Queensland Premier announced that the Stanthorpe region would be given about $800,000 per month to truck in much needed water.
