Creating Pathways for Women in Construction

Creating Pathways for Women in Construction image

The Queensland Government has announced a pilot program aiming to build the participation rates of women in the construction industry.  The intention is to provide governments and industry various avenues to bolster the retention rate of female construction tradespeople. Around 15 per cent of apprentices in QBuild are female and one in four of the 16,000 young people who applied for a place in the Manufacturing Industry Group Apprenticeship Scheme last financial year were female.

A new project by Queensland Housing and Public works aims to boost the number of female apprentices, tradies and professionals working on select social housing projects.
