COMPLIANCE UPDATE

Important things you need to know about the new HLTINFCOV001 unit

  1. ASQA released an update on 9.6.20 advising:
  • Credit transfer cannot be granted between HLTINFCOV001 and HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
This means students must undertake assessment.

  • This unit cannot be assessed entirely by simulation.
HLTINFCOV001 requires assessment of skills to be demonstrated in the workplace, and allows simulations and scenarios to be provided “where the full range of contexts and situations have not been provided in the workplace or may occur only rarely”. This means your assessment tools must be suitable for workplace-based demonstrations with evidence collected through direct observation.  Appropriate industry-relevant scenarios should be used for simulations.

  • Other people – such as a workplace supervisor – could be used to collect assessment evidence. This means a verification report is a useful addition to the assessment tools for this unit.

  • Per the AISC COVID-19 Emergency Response Sub-Committee’s statement, the contextualisation advice must be applied by RTOs when delivering these Skill Sets. This means assessments should align with the approved adjustments to performance and assessment criteria as detailed by the Committee as relevant to the specific industries of Retail, Food Handling or Transport and Logistics.

 2. Training Tools has developed assessment materials that align with the ASQA reminders to RTOs. Assessment tools for the Retail and Food Handling Skill Sets are available now and Transport & Logistics is coming soon!
