A New Report - Keeping a Check on Recruitment Insights

In February 2021, a new monthly report released by the National Skills Commission showed that 46% of the employers surveyed as part of the Recruitment Experiences and Outlook Survey were currently recruiting or had recruited in the past month.

This report is set to provide an ongoing snapshot of what employers are currently experiencing in the recruitment market with the latest key findings showing that:

• employers in the Construction industry were the most likely to expect to increase their staffing levels over the next three months (26%).
• in February, 20% of employers expected to increase their staffing levels over the next 3 months, compared with 22% in December 2020 and 16% in June 2020.
• employers in New South Wales (50%) were most likely to report that they were recruiting, compared with 42% of employers in Victoria.
• the proportion of businesses currently recruiting continues to be greater in Rest of State areas (49%) compared with Capital Cities (44%).
• of those employers recruiting, the share reporting recruitment difficulty decreased slightly from 39% in December 2020 to 38% in February 2021. Recruitment difficulty remains higher in Rest of State areas (41%) than in Capital Cities (36%).
