Accessing the Knowledge Hub

Q: What's the best way to search for resources?
A: The best way to search for resources in our Knowledge Hub is via our Knowledge Map.  This is essentially a site map that breaks the Knowledge Hub down into the National VET System as a whole, and then by your role within the sector.  Simply click on each topic and you will be taken to the relevant page that is filled with information, templates, samples, products VelgCasts and links.

Corporate and corporate plus accounts

Q:I have an existing Velg Training Membership.  Can I upgrade this to another level of membership prior to my renewal date?
A: Membership can be upgraded at any time. The balance of your current account is applied as pro-rata credit to the cost of the new membership level.  Your renewal date will be updated to reflect 12 months from the upgrade date.


Q:  We own several RTOs , can we purchase one membership to cover all of these?
A:  Corporate  and Corporate+ memberships can only be purchased by individual organisations.  Large 'umbrella' organisations comprising multiple RTO's cannot purchase one membership, e.g. an individual TAFE institute is the member rather than the state-wide TAFE operator; organisations in partnership agreements must both hold separate corporate memberships.


Q:Who can be added as a Sibling Account to my Corporate or Corporate+ Membership?
A: An unlimited number of Sibling Accounts can be created under your Corporate or Corporate+ Membership. To be added to the membership these sibling accounts must be paid either as PAYG staff or contract trainers/assessors by the named corporate member.


Q:  How do I add Sibling Accounts to  my Corporate or Corporate+  Membership?
A: Sibling accounts can be added by the administrator/s of your account once logged into the site through the siblings page in their profile.


Q:  I am a corporate or corporate plus account administrator; how do I access my team’s PD history?
A:  To view the records of any live event your sibling accounts or other administrators have registered for with Velg Training, please visit the VET PD page in your profile.  Beneath the 'Member' heading you will be able to select from the following:

  • 'My VET PD' to view your own history
  • 'All VET PD' to view your entire team's history
  • Or you can select the name of a current or previous team member to view their history only.

From these pages you will be able to access the resources from the event and also access any statements of attendance from any events your team were able to attend live.

The below legend denotes which events have accompanying certificates: 


Please note:  Any certificates of completion issued for viewing a past Members Lunch Box webinar recording via our Knowledge Hub  or purchased webinar product will not appear in your team’s PD history as these are not live events.  The registration process for the event through our website is the trigger for PD appearing in their history.  Watching recordings however is absolutely valid PD and they should record these in their Trainer and Assessor Profile.

Q:  I have a compliance question, who can I talk to?
A: Velg Training members can access advice and assistance from our consulting team. Advice is limited to brief, general VET enquiries no longer than 15 minutes in length.  More in-depth questions or specific review of RTO Documents or processes may require a formal consulting quote to be raised.  Please send your enquiries by email to consulting@velgtraining.com allowing 2 business days for a response to ensure your query is being directed to the best person and so our team can include in their answer any relevant links or further information.

General

Q: Is there a trial period?
A: There is no trial period for Velg Training Membership.


Q: How long does my membership last?
A:  By purchasing membership, you agree that you are  signing to an ongoing yearly subscription.  You can elect to have an invoice for renewal automatically sent to you 28 days prior to your renewal date or to have a reminder notice to generate this yourself through your account.  The renewal date will be 12 months from the equivalent commencement date. 


Q: Does my membership entitle me to free Velg Training event registrations?
A:  Membership fees do not include free entry to  all Velg Training workshops, national / state  conferences or other events however, discounted rates apply to all members and the membership does include free PD by way of our Members Lunch Box webinar series, VelgCasts and our Standards at a Glance resource.


Q: Will you share my details with any third party or other Members?
A: Velg Training will NOT share your details with third parties or other Members.

Managing my Velg Training profile

Q: How do I find my member type?
A: Your membership type can be found by visiting your profile page once logged in to your membership.  You will see your membership type at the top left-hand corner of the page under your name details:


Q: How do I update my contact information?
A:  Your contact information can be updated by visiting your profile page once logged in to your membership.  On this page you can update your:

  • Email address
  • Password
  • Telephone numbers
  • Address details
  • Dietary requirements for any face to face events

To do this simply type over the existing information and be sure to click the ‘save changes’ button on the upper right hand side of the screen.  Please note that any changes to your name or organisation details will need to be made by a Velg Training team member as amendments to these details are related back to our membership terms and conditions.


Q: How do I manage my communication preferences?
A:  You can update your email preferences by visiting the settings page in your profile once logged in to your membership.  Please note that on this page ‘Newsletter’ refers to the weekly curated newsletter sent to members each Thursday (or the Follower Bulletin if you hold this subscription type) and ‘Mailing list’ refers to any additional email alerts sent out during the rest of the week.


Q: Where do I find my membership certificate?
A: Your membership certificate can be located by visiting your profile page once logged in to your membership. You will find the button on the left-hand side of the page as below:

In the case of individual and individual plus memberships the membership certificate is issued in the individual’s name.  For corporate and corporate plus memberships the certificate is issued in the organisation’s name as they are deemed to own the membership.  Membership certificates are not issued in administrator, sibling or follower profile name details.

Past invoices and resource purchases

Q: How do I access past invoices?
A: You can access your past  invoices by visiting the history page in your profile once logged in with your membership details.

From here you will be able to select ‘Invoices’ from the filter menu and this will provide you with a list of all invoices raised under your log in.  You simply click the ‘Invoice’ button to access these:


Q: How do I access the resources/products I have purchased?
A: You can access the products you have purchased by visiting the history page in your profile once logged in with your membership details.

 From here you will be able to select ‘Purchases’ from the filter menu and this will provide you with a list of all resources and products you have purchased.  You simply click the ‘view’ button to access these:

Professional Development (PD) records and free PD for members

Q:How do I access my PD history?
A:  To view the records of any live event you have registered for with Velg Training please visit the VET PD page in your profile. From this page you will be able to access the resources from the event and also access your statement of attendance for any events you were able to attend live.

 Q:  I’m a corporate/individual plus member, how do I upload PD to my profile?
A:  To add records of PD from other providers to your Velg Training account please visit the VET PD page in your profile.  From here click on the ‘+ ADD VET PD’ button on the right-hand side of the page:

 

The following menu will then appear and you can then complete the details and the PD will then appear in your listing:

Please note: It is mandatory to have a PDF file to upload in the statement of attendance field for this to be added.  Also, only the individual can add PD to their own profile. The administrator of an account cannot do this on behalf of their sibling accounts.

Q:  What PD do you issue certificates for?
A:  Velg Training issues Statements of Attendance for any live event you register for which is classified as valid Professional Development (PD) and then attend at the required time.  This will include our live:

  • Webinars
  • Conferences
  • Velg2Go courses

If you register for a live webinar but are unable to attend at the specified time, you can watch the recording within post event and then request a Certificate of Completion (within 4 weeks of the live event).  Simply email to our webinar team (webinar@velgtraining.com) with the title of the webinar along with the date and time you have watched this and our team can then cross reference this with our system and issue the certificate.

We also issue certificates of completion to Velg Training members for viewing past Members Lunch Box webinars via our Knowledge Hub MLB request form.

Please note: Statements of Attendance or Certificates of Completion are not available with Velg Training products as we cannot verify attendance/viewing. However, this can still be recorded as valid professional development (PD) in your Trainer/Assessor Profile and verified by your supervisor, RTO Manager or CEO (depending on the policies and procedures adopted by your RTO).

Q: Do you offer free PD for members?
A:  We definitely do!  Velg Training members can access complimentary PD by three different ways as listed below.  Please click on the links to access these directly through our Knowledge Hub once logged in with your membership details:

  • Our Members Lunch Box series of webinars – there are 12 live events in this series each year and we also house recordings of the past events dating back to December 2017.  If members have missed the live event they can request a certificate of completion by completing the form on the page housing the relevant recording.
  • VelgCasts - these are short videos specifically designed to professionally develop those new to the sector, or those who are looking for a brief refresher. A VelgCast is just like a PodCast, a digital audio file made available FREE to members, to watch via Vimeo. There are 80 VelgCasts available on a range of topics and we have developed an accompanying PD record to assist in demonstrating your VET currency
  • Our Standards at a Glance resource – this is a suite of VelgCasts which break the actual Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 down clause by clause

Q: What are VelgCasts and where do I find them?
A:  A VelgCast is just like a PodCast, a digital audio file made available free to members, to watch via Vimeo. We have also developed an accompanying PD record to assist in demonstrating your VET currency. Q: How do I find the Standards at a Glance resource?

Transfers, name changes and upgrades

Q: I have an existing Velg Training Membership.  Can I upgrade this to another level of membership prior to my renewal date?

Q: Can my Individual or Individual+ Membership be transferred to another staff member?
A: Individual or Individual+ Memberships are transferable as per our Terms & Conditions.

Please note:  To transfer your Membership, please forward an email to our membership team via members@velgtraining.com with the reason for the transfer, the details of the person who previously owned the membership and the below details  of the person who will be taking over the account: 

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Postal address
  • Position within your organisation
