Blog: #2019NVC Recap… And what’s in store for #2020NVC? image

Each year, Velg Training works to bring the best speakers, presentations and sponsors together for two-days of everything VET. #2019NVC was no exception with people from all around Australia converging on the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre to experience the excitement and action that is the National VET Conference.

As always, the NVC was preceded by a series of Master Classes on the Wednesday prior to the conference opening.  In 2019, the Master Class sessions covered topics related to assessment, compliance, delivery techniques and teaching in a digital environment.  These pre-conference sessions are always a popular way to maximise time; if you’re travelling to attend the NVC, there is the option to come a day early and participate in a workshop-style session presented by a topic Master.

With the Plenary Session instilling innovation from its inception, it was no doubt that a common feeling of readiness and action to seize the day was felt among attendees.

And so, after a quick networking morning tea, it was no sooner that the elective sessions were upon us!

The ‘usual suspects’ in the program spanned direct feedback from ASQA, ideas to activate innovation within your RTO, tips for engaging eLearning solutions, and of course, everything to do with RTO management and compliance, and training and assessment practice. 42 sessions over 8 streams across 2 days...the #2019NVC was PD heaven for those keen to confirm current practice, hear of latest innovations, and be inspired to try something new!

However, the 2019 program mixed it up a bit by introducing the new ‘Freestyle Facilitation’ stream which was a semi-structured session allowing for audience Q&A on the particular topic. This proved to be highly successful, with participants walking away feeling energised from the interactive format!

Live music at the Velgywood Welcome Function, paired with exciting games and a chance to win many prizes rounded out the first day of intensive learning and networking… Before diving back into it again for an insightful Day 2.

In order to aid our delegates and sponsors further, the #2019NVC app made an appearance this year even bigger and better than ever before! The Velg Training team wanted to ensure there was added functionality to cater to delegates wanting to plan the best possible day of learning.  The app allowed for a live activity feed, program, presenter and sponsor information, maps (the BCEC was huge!), information on competitions, community interaction with other delegates, and last but not least, a personalised conference planner

Overall, #2019NVC was a resounding success, and our Vision for the Future will be realised at the 2020 National VET Conference… so, what can you expect?

A dedicated responsiveness to your feedback!

I don’t want to giveaway too much just yet… but, a few cryptic clues won’t hurt! So without further ado:

  • 16 March
  • Content Categories
  • Wonderland
  • 60 Minutes

The only way to experience the best bang for your PD buck is to join the thousand or so practitioners who head to NVC to hear from the National VET Regulator, Government representatives, VET experts, consultants and real practitioners willing to share and showcase the best in VET.

We look forward to seeing you at #2020NVC.
