The 48th general meeting of COAG was held in Sydney last week, with an update on VET sector reform.

During discussions, leaders noted the update on progress from the COAG Skills Council to reform the VET sector.  Areas agreed on by the leaders as reform priorities are:

  • Relevance
  • Quality
  • Accessibility.

Additionally, COAG recognised that future skills needs research and analysis will be undertaken by the National Skills Commission.  This research will assist government to better align funding with labour markets.
