The full statistical report from NCVER has been released on all things apprentice and trainee in Australia up to September 30, 2019.  The report presents information on such areas as commencements, completions, cancellations and withdrawals of apprenticeship or trainee positions, and presents the data state-by-state (or territory).

Some of the highlights of the report are:

  • Commencements increased by 1.7% to 34 690
  • Completions increased by 1.3% to 20 175
  • Cancellations/Withdrawals increased by 1.6% to 22 840
  • Decrease of apprentices and trainees in-training by 0.5% to 272 580
  • 2.1% of Australian workers are employed as an apprentice or trainee
  • Commencement rate of female apprentices and trainees is up 3.7% to 55 205
  • Commencement rate of male apprentices and trainees is down 3.8% to 101 060
