In my role as Consulting Manager I unfortunately often see Registered Training Organisations seeking assistance at the 11th hour!  Being reactive to the situation!

I want to encourage all Registered Training Organisations to be proactive, not reactive, in their approach to compliance and staff development.

Best practice for a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) would be to be proactive in all areas of compliance, including the Standards for RTOs 2015, government funded programs, CRICOS and any other areas of compliance which may include licensing regulations.  At any given time your RTO is required to be compliant, therefore compliance is a mandatory obligation and should be an integral part of your day to day operations.

The Annual Declaration on Compliance is a mandatory document that must be completed and submitted to the regulator each year.  Use this requirement as a tool for planning your ongoing compliance and continuous improvement. In preparing your yearly financial budgets ask yourself:

  • What professional development is needed for my staff?
  • Would we benefit from external reviews of our policies, procedures and training materials?
  • Do we have the capacity to meet the requirements of systematic validation?

Investing in a proactive approach to your ongoing compliance is going to allow you piece of mind that at any given time, if an audit is scheduled or you are asked to provide information to the regulator, you know that you will be in a good position.

A student centred audit approach includes students that have completed their studies with you. Put yourself in the position of a student at your RTO. Are they receiving all the information needed prior to enrolment, during the course and post course? Are you a quality RTO providing your students with quality training and assessment?

Velg Training offers both its Members and Followers a vast range of products and services to assist you in meeting your requirements. Our mission statement is relevant and practiced, to Educate, Inspire and Empower the VET community.  We pride ourselves in providing a high quality service to our clients.

Contact us to discuss how we can support you as a quality RTO.
